“We’re all coming from such different nets of belonging and unbelonging. So we can get really tangled up with each other when there’s not that spaciousness that we give and allow ourselves to be in to really disentangle from the hooks of our woundedness and make a truly inclusive net that holds us all.” - ridhi d’cruz
a pilgrim on the path of remembering belonging
ridhi d’cruz is a genuine soul whose courageous vulnerability and deep commitment to liberation shine beautifully both within and beyond our conversation.
I first encountered ridhi in 2021 during my self-study of permaculture. What immediately drew me in was how they wove belonging as a necessary, living thread within the social and cultural aspects of permaculture—dimensions that are too often treated as secondary, when in truth, they are foundational to the very regeneration permaculture seeks to cultivate.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned on my journey of becoming another way—particularly in our relationship to the greater ecosystems we’re part of—it’s that we are all inextricably connected in ways far beyond our comprehension. Across generations, geographies, species, and Time itself, an invisible thread weaves us into a Timeless web. This thread is calling us now. It’s asking for our attention, our care, and our willingness to repair.
For millennia, seeds have been sown into this thread: seeds of disconnection, separation, violence, and domination. These have shaped a pervasive experience of disbelonging, both within our inner worlds and in the wider world around us. The loneliness and fragmentation we see today are not individual afflictions alone—they are symptoms of an inherited and systematic forgetting of our innate belonging.
Remembering our belonging is radical, (r)evolutionary act in this era of forgetting.
It reconnects us to place, to people, to culture, to the Land—and to Life itself. From this remembrance grows the possibility of healing. Of a Life community rooted in intention. Of stewardship that emerges not from obligation, but from that divine gift and expression of Love.
Belonging is the medicine that deepens our capacity for care, compassion, authenticity, and spaciousness. It is not a destination- it is our natural state of being that must now be practiced in the process of remembering a way of being that reconnects us to our wholeness and to the wholeness of the world.
What Episode 108 Holds:
In this conversation, ridhi shares about their initiation into the path of belonging, beginning in their homelands of Bangalore in Southern India. Together, we explore through their journey what it means to embrace the full spectrum of our humanness.
ridhi offers profound reflections on the role of Land in belonging, speaking openly about the journey of tracing the pain of caste in their ancestry with both honesty and compassion. As an abolitionist at Heart, ridhi speaks to the importance of accountability and repair in reclaiming our sense of interconnectedness beyond inherited narratives of historical trauma.
We also speak about the wisdom that has guided and continues to sustain them: from Buddhist stories and practices, to kinship with community, to the quiet strength of the Lands across oceans that they’ve called home.
This conversation is alive, open, and filled with the kind of medicine that lingers. It’s my prayer that it reaches you exactly when you need it—and that it nourishes the thread of belonging that has always held us together.
Until next time, Beloveds. May you settle sweetly into June with presence and a clear connection to your crucial belonging to the way of things - on this Earth and in this ever-expanding cosmos♥️
